Part-time Jobs
The current rule is monthly, not a generic 20-hour weekly limit. A university student holding temporary residence for study may work for up to 80 hours per month without needing further permits or changing the purpose of residence. High-school students have a separate 40-hours-per-month rule.
Keep employment records and make sure the job does not undermine the study purpose of your residence. The IOM guidance also notes that a person with temporary residence for study may conduct business, although starting a business has its own tax, registration and residence-change considerations.

Post-study Work
After successfully completing university studies in Slovakia, you may apply to renew the study residence for nine months to look for a job or start a business. The application should be made while your current residence is still valid and can use the Slovak diploma or confirmation of completed studies as evidence.
Graduating in Slovakia also makes an in-country change of residence purpose easier: the current IOM guidance allows graduates who obtained first-, second- or third-level university education in Slovakia to apply to change purpose at the Foreign Police. For long-term residence, study time is not treated as a full qualifying period: EU Immigration Portal guidance states that study residence counts at half of its duration, and you first need residence on another qualifying basis before long-term residence can be obtained.
