University dormitories (akademiki) run cheap and fill instantly; the private market in Warsaw and Kraków is competitive but sane by western standards, with rooms commonly PLN 1,200 to 2,500 depending on city.
Remember the visa arithmetic: documented housing costs enter the means formula, so the dormitory contract does double duty as proof and as a smaller number to prove.
