Part-time Jobs
A third-country student residence permit allows salaried employment for an average maximum of 15 hours per week over one month, outside time spent studying. The current Guichet rule does not impose a separate two-semester waiting period on bachelor or BTS students.
The 15-hour limitation does not apply to paid work during school holidays, research carried out in the higher-education establishment or an accredited research institute as part of a doctorate, or University of Luxembourg assistant contracts. The employer must make the required notifications to the immigration authorities. A traineeship that forms part of the academic programme can be undertaken while the student permit remains valid without switching to a trainee residence basis.

Post-study Work
The dedicated post-study job-search/business-creation permit is narrower than a general bachelor-graduate route. It is available to third-country students who successfully complete higher education leading to a master's degree, or successfully defend a PhD thesis in Luxembourg.
Apply at least 30 days before the student permit or mobility period expires. The permit costs EUR 80 and is valid for 12 months. Employment or self-employment pursued through this route must relate to the student's academic education. If you already have a suitable job or concrete business plan, a simplified change to the relevant work/self-employment residence basis may be possible instead.
