## Visa & Immigration

Most non-EU students who need a visa apply for a Polish national type D study visa through the competent consulate. Consular document lists vary by post, but normally include admission, adequate means, accommodation/return arrangements and qualifying medical insurance. The detailed PLN 1,010 formula belongs to the temporary-residence-permit stage in Poland: after deducting documented actual accommodation costs, a single applicant without dependants must still have at least PLN 1,010 available per month, plus any tuition due and return-travel resources. The return amount is PLN 200 to a neighbouring country, PLN 500 to a non-neighbouring EU country or Norway/Iceland/Liechtenstein/Switzerland, and PLN 2,500 for other destinations. ## Residence Permit

Apply for the temporary residence permit for studies while your stay is still legal. For ordinary full-time higher-education study, the first permit is generally granted for 15 months, or for the academic year/study period plus three months when that period is shorter; subsequent permits can cover the study period plus three months, up to three years. The application fee for the study permit is PLN 340. A timely and formally complete application can legalise the stay while the case is pending, but a pending application is not a substitute for checking travel/re-entry rights. Study progress, enrolment, health insurance, accommodation and funds remain central to the file.
