Housing
Start with the university's own hostel or international office and ask whether accommodation is guaranteed, merely prioritised, or allocated only while rooms remain. Do not pay a private deposit before you have verified the property, contract, landlord and refund terms.
At NUST's Islamabad campus, the published international-student hostel charges for disciplines other than medicine and applied biosciences range from USD 60 per month for a triple room with community bathroom to USD 110 for a single room with attached bathroom. A double-bed unit with attached bathroom and kitchen is listed at USD 200 per month.
NUST separately lists hostel messing at PKR 18,000 per month and says only students registered for statutory courses at the Islamabad campus are eligible for its hostels. Newly enrolled students apply online, and an allotment creates an advance charge rather than an automatic right to a room. Treat these figures as one current campus example, not a Pakistan-wide rent guide.
