## Part-time Jobs

Do not budget on ordinary paid student work in India. Current official Indian consular guidance states that full-time and part-time employment is completely prohibited for Student visa holders.

That prohibition is different from academic activity that forms part of your course or from a separately authorised immigration category. Before accepting any paid assistantship, freelance work, tutoring, external placement or other employment, obtain written confirmation that the activity is permitted under your immigration status. A university or employer offer does not itself change your visa conditions.

## Internships

A Student visa does not give a general right to paid employment, and an external internship should not be assumed to be covered simply because you are enrolled. India's official visa table publishes Intern as a separate visa category and requires a sponsorship letter from the Indian company, educational institution or NGO stating the internship period.

The published Intern visa duration is the internship period or one year, whichever is less. If a placement is compulsory and embedded in your degree, ask your institution and the relevant immigration authority to confirm the correct basis in writing before you begin; if a separate Intern visa is required, follow that route.

## Post-study Work

The official Study in India FAQ states that you will not receive a work visa in India simply because you graduate. Plan for departure unless you independently qualify for another immigration category.

If an employer wishes to hire you, check the current employment-visa requirements before your Student status ends. Do not begin work or remain in India on the assumption that an offer letter automatically changes your immigration permission.
