Housing prices vary sharply between Budapest and regional university cities, so use current university or official cost-of-living tools when budgeting rather than relying on a fixed national room-price band. Stipendium Hungaricum accommodation support is a contribution: the programme explicitly warns that HUF 40,000 per month may not cover private rent in larger cities.

Third-country students must declare a real Hungarian accommodation address for residence purposes. If the accommodation changes, OIF requires the change to be reported electronically through Enter Hungary; current guidance states that changes should be reported within three days. The authority provides an electronic accommodation certificate/QR document.

Before paying a deposit, confirm that the landlord will provide the information and cooperation needed for lawful accommodation reporting and keep the tenancy documents.
